Looking for a way to brighten up your home’s interior? Consider plants!

According to Green Plants for Green Buildings (GPGB), “Plants … offer more than aesthetic value. In fact, studies have shown they help reduce stress, enhance … attitudes, increase productivity, and improve air quality.”

The benefits of plants are undeniable!

1. Plants improve air quality.

GPGB says, “Research shows that plant-filled rooms contain 50-60% fewer airborne molds and bacteria than rooms without plants.” A USDA estimate is that proper use of plants could decrease air temperature in an office by as much as ten degrees. Plus, the moisture released by these plants helps maintain indoor humidity in the human comfort zone of 30 to 60 percent, and helps prevent materials such as wood from cracking when dried out. 2. Plants add aesthetic beauty.

Vibrant greenery imbibes a space with vitality and a sense of the outdoors. Watching something grow can be a very positive experience, and certain plants can do well inside and last for years! Offering decorative color, aesthetic appeal, and consistent growth, a plant provides a sure way to brighten up the drabbest space.

3. Plants are productive.

Varieties and types abound, and plants can be useful, too: think herbs, vegetables, aloe vera. Wouldn’t it be nice to pick fresh greens for your cooking?
