Aurora isn’t just one of Chicago’s western suburbs; it’s also the second largest city in Illinois, featuring two Metra stations, two hospitals, a general aviation airport, Pace and Greyhound buses, 46 public schools and 22 private schools. It was one of the first cities in the United States to implement all-electric street lighting, and it’s filled with historic landmarks such as the Paramount Theatre, the New York Street Memorial Bridge and the Leland Hotel. Shopping centers include Westfield Shoppingtown at Fox Valley and Chicago Prime Outlets.
Accessible via five interchanges on the East/West Tollway Corridor, this city continues to grow, now stretching from Route 59 on the east to portions beyond Orchard Road on the west. It extends into four counties, six school districts and seven townships.
