marietta

Situated in Cobb County, the town of Marietta, GA is an easy 30-minute drive from downtown Atlanta. The city is rich in history, as it is the sight of the Western and Atlantic Railroad, the Georgia Military Institute and historic buildings from the Civil War.

Like most towns constructed in the early 1800s, the heart of Marietta features a town square, which is where you’ll often see different events (like Theatre in the Square) taking place all year long. Other must-see landmarks include the colorful Glover Park and the historic Cobb County Courthouse.

As the pride and joy of Marietta, the Gone With the Wind Museum is one the best points of interests in town! Also called “Scarlett on the Square,” this beautiful brick building houses an extensive collection of memorabilia related to the book and the film.

When you’re looking for a neighborhood that boasts true Southern hospitality, you’ll want to hit up the Georgian suburb of Marietta.

First up, Lawrenceville, Georgia!

Located about 40 minutes northeast of Atlanta, this Georgia suburb has a Southern hospitality all its own! As the second oldest city in the state, Lawrenceville features beautifully historic buildings that house shops, boutiques and eateries. Strolling through the quaint downtown, you can’t help but be charmed!

Known as the Crepe Myrtle City, Lawrenceville is as beautiful as it is convenient: this is where you’ll find one of the major hospitals of the region, Gwinnett Medical Center, as well as the nearby Gwinnet Center, a facility for a variety of events and special performances, including sports and entertainment.

Must-see destinations include the Aurora Theatre, showcasing musicals and plays; ghost tours that highlight this town’s rich history; the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse that’s open for tours; and the Veterans Memorial Museum with its interesting war artifacts.

If you’re looking for a neighborhood that benefits from Atlanta conveniences and its own brand of Southern style, you’ll want to check out Lawrenceville.
